Spreading Love through Hula at Sendai, Japan

On July 6, 2013, Hālau Nā Mamo O Pu‘uanahulu Iapana performed a special concert for the people of Komae City. Lead by Kumu Hula Lōpaka Igarta-De Vera, the Iapana hula dancers volunteered their talents for charity. Funds were raised to help with the ongoing clean up from the massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake and a powerful tsunami that devastated the northeast coast of Japan on March 11, 2011.

Following their performance, the hālau traveled the next day to Ishinomaki Prefecture and toured the remains of the city as well as presented the Major of the city with a monetary donation of $15,000.
