Announcing Kumu Hula Lōpaka Igarta-De Vera

Hālau Nā Mamo O Pu‘uanahulu proudly announces the appointment of Lōpaka Igarta-De Vera as Kumu Hula. Kumu Hula Lōpaka currently co-directs the hālau alongside Kumu Hula Sonny Ching.
Kumu Hula Lōpaka has been dancing with HNMOP since 1990. In 1993, he became an alaka‘i in the hālau. He also opened and lead the Japan Hālau for five years as a hula instructor/alaka‘i. For six rigorous years, Lōpaka trained and studied in the Papa ‘Ūniki. It was on October 7, 2011 in Ka‘a‘awa that he graduated as kumu hula with his sister Lāhela Igarta and five others.
